Bride and Groom cakes

I made these cakes for a friend of a friend. My dear friend/cake decorator Tamara was busy working on a beautiful 4 tier wedding cake, and I was busy with the side cakes for the bride and groom. We had a lot of fun/stress/fun/laughter/stress/relief. Yep...all in one. It is always very stressful making a wedding cake...lots of pressure to get it just perfect. In the end it was beautiful! The excitement builds as you plan the cake itself...then as you are in the process...stress ensues, and tiny mishaps may happen to take your stress level to the highest. Nobody knows the little mistakes you make...only you. As a decorator, you are your own worst critic, and even though they are not noticeable to anyone else, what you might call mistakes, others will never see. They only see the finished product, and fall in love with it. Meanwhile in the back of your mind, you are going over in your head what you will do differently next time. At some point, if stress gets real high, you tell yourself that you will never do another one again...but you will. Once everyone sees the beautiful masterpiece, your confidence level returns, and all is well again. Once we delivered these cakes, we left so quickly that we didn't get a final picture of the wedding cake (oops). As soon as I have one I will post it.

Eric & Samantha's Wedding Cake

This is my most recent cake. It was for my baby brother-in-law and his new wife Samantha!!! Congrats you two!

I also wrote this poem for them, and wrote a wedding prayer in frosting between the cake layers. You can click on the photo to see it better.
